Dear Friends of the Playhouse

I would like to thank you first and foremost for your incredible generosity to the Playhouse over the past years. We are building our programming more each season, and we hope to become an even more visible presence in the White Lake area. Of course, this year is a difficult time for fundraising, due to the current economic circumstances. Fortunately, the Community Foundation for Muskegon County has created an innovative opportunity for us to engage in a competition towards that very goal.

The first ever Match Day will be held in the Frauenthal Center lobby on Thusday, May 28, from 7:30 am to 5:30 pm. Donations in the form of checks may be sent with someone else to present on that day, but the funds must be dropped off in person as it is a competition for many other non-profit organizations to match their dollars as well. The way that it’s planned out is like this: individual donors will be matched 50 cents on every dollar up to $1,000 that day. However, the CFFMC has raised $68,630 (and still growing!) and only that amount will be available for matching. Thus when the matching funds are exhausted, donations will still be accepted towards the cause, but will no longer have the match option. Clearly, the sooner that we get donors into the Frauenthal on May 28, the more likely that there will still be funds available for matching towards the Howmet Playhouse cause.

The whole day is going to be a PARTY — full of good food, friends, and entertainment — (part of which will be provided by the Playhouse through our good friends Andrea Matthews and Kim Harsch) and we hope that you’ll join us. Even a small donation will help, especially because the organization with the most donors at the end of the day, not the highest dollar amount will also receive an additional $1,000 towards their cause. We hope that we can count on you as we have in the past, to support the efforts of the Playhouse. We have an extended summer season planned this year, (a schedule of which has been included in this letter) and we are in greater need than ever to raise funds to support the arts and entertainment at our beautiful historic theatre.

If you choose not to attend in person to the Match Day Party, please send your donation checks (dated May 28) with someone who plans to attend that day, such as me or another individual whom you know will be attending. Checks can be made out to the CFFMC (Community Foundation for Muskegon County) with HOWMET PLAYHOUSE in the subject line.

Thank you in advance for you continued support of the Howmet Playhouse!
